Green power for profine - photovoltaic system connected to the grid at Pirmasens site

Sustainable development and future-oriented investments in the company´s sites are a top priority for profine Group.

Hence, January saw project developer WIRSOL connect an EEG-compliant photovoltaic system to the grid at the Pirmasens site of profine GmbH. The impressive project is one of the last photovoltaic systems of this size to be approved for construction under the previous German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).

4,583 modules were installed across a total of five factory roofs in Pirmasens. The photovoltaic system has a total peak output of 1,214.5 kilowatts and enables profine GmbH to reduce its CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by an impressive 643 tons per year.

“As an owner-managed group, we do our utmost to achieve sustainable development. This is the reason our carbon footprint as a whole and sustainable investments are extremely important to us. In WIRSOL we have found a competent and responsible partner to help us attain these goals,” said Dr. Peter Mrosik, owner and CEO of profine.

The sheer size of the system necessitated an extremely careful approach to module planning and installation on the part of project developer WIRSOL from Baden-Württemberg, with the biggest overall challenge being the time required for EEG-compliant completion and subsequent connection to the grid.

“The challenge with any project of this size is to bring the system on stream without interrupting operations and so avoid any downtime for profine GmbH,” explained Johannes Gross, sales manager at WIRSOL.
